What Wisevet Coach is, whose framework it follows, and exactly where every piece of its clinical content stands.
The framework
Wisevet Coach structures a problem-based clinical walk: define and refine the problem, define and refine the system, define the location, define the lesion - ending at a differential list and next steps for the vet to choose from. The framework is that of Jill E. Maddison, Clinical Reasoning in Veterinary Practice. The framework is credited here and on the front page; the clinical content in the app is authored for the app and is not reproduced from the book. Wisevet is independent of the book's author and publisher and is not endorsed by them; taking part in testing does not imply endorsement.
How the walk works, and who decides
There is one way to walk a case: the reverse chatbot. Wisevet presents one question at a time with short answers; you choose an answer and commit it before the next question appears (you can also type an answer, or a question of your own - Wisevet replies to a question with a question that moves the walk forward). Hoot, an AI assistant built on an AI model (Anthropic's Claude), presents each next question and, when you ask for them, the differentials, the can't-miss list and the diagnostic clinical tests as options. That output is generated by an AI and unsigned: it is not vet-authored, signed or cited, and it can be wrong or incomplete. Hoot never decides. Every decision is yours. You commit each answer, put the differentials in your own order and confirm it, and choose the clinical tests. If you tap Unsure, Hoot (the AI assistant) suggests clinical tests or imaging that could help progress the diagnostic work-up; you decide whether to add them.
Where Dr. Marc Simpson's signed library covers the problem, Hoot is given it to follow, and an item is marked signed only when it matches an item in that library - anything else is marked Hoot-added. Every signed clinical statement is authored and signed by a veterinarian and carries its citation in the record. Software rules check every turn: the method's order (history, exam, problem, system, mechanism), one question at a time, no diagnosis named before the list, and no treatment, drug or dose. Those checks reduce errors; they do not make the output correct.
Wisevet never recommends treatment, a drug or a dose. It is for animals only and is for veterinary professionals and students. The clinical decisions stay with the vet.
Content status, problem by problem
34 problems were authored from Dr. Simpson's worked chapter dictations and reviewed in the app walk by walk. 36 problems were drafted from his signed scaffold summaries expanded with mainstream references, released provisionally, and signed off as reviewed by Dr. Simpson on 19 August 2026; the internal register of additions made during drafting is retained for each. 4 emergency presentations (Oliguria / Anuria, Stupor / Coma, Suspected Toxin Ingestion, Trauma / RTA / MVA) are deliberately offered as Quick Consult reference cards only - a stepwise reasoning walk is the wrong tool mid-emergency.
